If you chose your intended profession because you don’t like to write,
you might be in for a surprise. Regardless of what you do, the ability to
write clearly and concisely may impact whether you get a job interview, get
the job, or advance in your chosen field.
Our seminars can help you and your employees improve their communication
skills. All seminars are conducted at your site, so travel is not necessary.
The following seminars are currently available:
- Writing User-Friendly Policies, Procedures, and Manuals—This
one-and-a-half day seminar is devoted to the successful preparation,
writing,
editing, production and distribution of manuals and directives.
- Writing Job Procedures—This two half-days seminar
is devoted to the successful writing and editing of employee job instructions.
- Professional Business Writing—This two half-days
seminar is devoted to improving writing skills and business correspondence.
- Memos, Merry-Go-Rounds, and E-mail—This 90-minute,
fun-filled seminar is suitable for early morning sessions. It is an informal,
highly interactive training session that brings participants up-to-date
on how to write concise and readable memos and e-mails. The legal implications
of using e-mail are also discussed.
- English Refresher—This two-hour session is a writing
refresher course that covers writing basics and brings participants up-to-date
on new rules for writing.
- Writing for the Web—This four-hour session provides
guidelines to use when writing for the web, including the pros and cons
of various tools, and how to ensure that your documents are readable
and will print properly.
- Train the Trainer (1 Day)—This one-day session
provides tips and traps for the non-professional trainer. If you use
in-house
programmers and subject matter experts to conduct training, this course
is for them. Learners break into groups of three: a trainer, an evaluator,
and a trainee. Each trainer conducts a 10-15 minute training session
followed by 10-15 minutes for team members and the instructor
to
provide
feedback.
- Train the Trainer (2 Days)—This two-day session
is designed for people who are not professional trainers but will be conducting
training on a regular basis. The course presents tips and traps for training.
Learners bring their own training materials to class and prepare to train
one short topic. On day two, each attendee conducts a 10-15 minute session
in front of the class. After each presentation, class members and the
instructor provide feedback.
- Effective Editing & Proofreading—This four-hour
seminar is designed to improve your editing and proofreading skills. Nothing
makes (or breaks) a first impression like a well- or poorly edited document.
This class will give you the editing basics, as well as some helpful tips
on improving your ability to spot errors. You will have several opportunities
to use your new skills to review and edit poorly written documents.
